Coiling Machine (P/N: ATTR000006)
IMPORTANT:
Use of manual coiling devices as the one hereby illustrated permit distributors and customers to obtain coiled Rollmax that are well coiled and reliable. Nonetheless, if the application and/or customer requirements call for higher precision in shape, dimension and degree of thermal conductivity, we highly advise to order Rollmax heaters that are coiled behind customer specifications by Rotfil's PLC-controlled coiling machines.

Coiling Rollmax heaters with the manual coiling machine
1. Determine the inner diameter of the heaters coil. The outer diameter can be calculated by adding the dimension of the side of the cross section twice to the inner diameter. Select the mandrel size according to the inner diameter of the coil chosen. Please refer to the chart below: the mandrels diameter will be inferior to the coils inner diameter.
2. Install the mandrel on the coiling machine (see "a" ). Insert the heater vertically, with the tip directed downwards, between the clamp and the roll, then clasp the heaters tip.
3. Coil the Rollmax heater by slowly rotating the hand grip, whilst holding the heater in a vertical position.
4. Keep a minimum 30 mm straight length from the beginning of the cable junction. This minimum length from the junction should never be bent. |

5 | | Customizing the orientation of the cable outlet
- Insert the coiled heater in the bending device next to the mandrel (see "c" ), which consists of two short vertical rods, and bend to the desired angle.
- Never bend below the minimum bending radius indicated on the chart.
Stretching one or more spires axially
- Install the coiled heater on the stretching device (see "b").
- Insert the two metal sheets so that the spires to be stretched are in between the sheets (the sheets should be inserted for at least three quarters of the coil's diameter).
- Rotate the hand grip until reaching the desired stretching. Depending on the coil diameter, do not stretch to a pitch of more than 10÷15 mm in order to avoid torsion or a reduction of the coils inner diameter. This would result in loss of cylindrical contact on the surface to be heated, reducing performance and duration of the heater.
Caution
- When you need a coiled Maxi-Rollmax, you must order a pre-coiled heater.
- In cases where pitch stretching using the manual machine results in the heaters torsion or in the reduction of the coils inner diameter, you must order a pre-coiled heater.
- When in need of a complex shape, other than a coil/spiral, you must order a pre-coiled heater.
- For high-quality coiling/shaping to tight dimensional tolerances, you must order a pre-coiled heater.
- When bending rectangular cross-section heaters avoid bending in the direction of the longer side: deformation and torsions that can originate could put to risk the heaters functionality.
